Hideki Yoshida
Fri Aug 10, 2018 3:29 am
Name: Yoshida, Hideki
Age: 14
Birthday March 18th
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Bisexual/Demisexual
Status: Student
Location: Fukuoka
Reputation: 0
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 145 lbs.
Skin Color: Pale/Fair
Eye Color: Blue/Grey
Hair Color: Black, with a streak of white
Mutations: N/A
General Appearance: Hideki is the type of person who tends to his personal appearance slightly more than the average person but doesn't go all out by any means. He takes a very high standard of personal care and cleanliness but tends to wear more loose and comfortable clothes that wouldn't be considered stylish despite how much he cares for himself. He sticks to darker colors as a base for the most parts but will branch out colors on top of that and wears a variety of clothing fit towards the various situations he may fall in. He has distinct black hair and keeps it messy and unkempt but is easily identified with the streak of natural white over his left eye, sometimes referred to as his own skunktail. He has uniquely blue-grey eyes and a pretty standard face that doesn't stick out too much, with softer features than most guys and clean/blemish free skin.
- Outfits:
- N/A
Faceclaim: (Licht Jekylland Todoroki - Servamp)
Personality: Hideki is as outgoing and personable as he can be, though sometimes the filter between his brain and mouth lacks or fails to work altogether, he means well and strives to make meaningful connections with those around him. He tends to carry a hefty weight of sarcasm and pragamatism around him and doesn't buy too much into whatever is thrown in his face at any given moment but will play along as he needs to in order to blend in and not create strife if he doesn't need to. This stems from Hideki's lingering past and his inability to focus his nerves and face conflicts directly. He's often a bit shy and embarrassed when he's not directly included or is set up to be the outsider in anything from group works and projects to even in a group conversation. Still, this shyness is easily avoided and when it revolves an area that he's confident in, he can overcome the severe anxiety that wracks his person and push forward in order to not be left alone and make those connections. Though he does tend to avoid conflicts of pretty much any and all forms, he isn't strictly passive in his behavior and when triggered to, can act as an unwavering force to do good or protect someone else at his own cost. Important to note, that he is still competitive as he needs to be and confidently so when he's comfortable but any conflict that presents a physical challenge/danger/threat or can do any sort of harm to someone else becomes the real bane of his existence.
Ambitions: Hideki revolves himself around wanting to be better for those in his own position. His early life found himself being ostracized from the connections that many people had and outcast. Beyond that, he himself was bullied tremendously and found himself almost alone in the world for a long time. Moving past it and finding a niche in taking blows for the trade of humor and bottling his vices in, he felt it necessary that he could use his own internal mechanisms to stop others from feeling this way. This brought up his admiration of heroes and those who face challenges and overcome hurdles in order to protect others and act as exemplary persons in society. It's Hideki's goal to become a hero of his own and become an example to others around him, and prove to himself that he can grow into a liked, respectable, and honorable person.
(dis)Interests: Hideki has a certain palpable disdain for bullying. Stemming from his own early childhood problems with being essentially abused and having no one there for him, he carried on this disdain and need to help the weak stand up for themselves. Beyond that, he includes the other personal traits closely related to bullying such as an unchecked ego, or someone showing off and putting others down in any forms those come by. On a much smaller chain, Hideki doesn't care much for anger and simply creates anger on his own end (even hypocritically) and also finds laziness and irrationality as... irrational traits. Not to be mistaken with taking the time off to relax as he understands it's need and the value it has for a person's health and bonding with others.
Fear(s): Hideki fears being outcast. This continues on into loneliness but to be thrown back into the place of his childhood without any way to fight against it is a horrible fear of his. He also does everything he can to avoid becoming what he hates and the few instances that he's gained into his actions even closely imitating that despicable persona within himself brings disgust and makes him physically sick at his stomach in hindsight. Death scares him as much as it would any average person, and he carries a certain disinterest for shocking things beyond that.
Total Trait Points: 20
Trait Points Used: 18
- Dark Vision:
Name: Dark Vision
Trait Points: 5 TP
Description: Super powered and enhanced vision gives the person something known as Dark Vision, due to the hyper tuned retina of their eyes. The retina retain and bring in far more light from the cornea and refract outwards in many more angles than normal eyes do. This results in them being able to see in relative darkness as if it were dimly light and a dimly light area as if it were normally lit. This darkness does not apply to blind sight or complete darkness where no light makes it to the retina. As a result, techniques or abilities that create light for visual impairment are one degree more effective against people with this trait (one degree meaning one post longer effect, etc...).
- Sonic Hearing:
Name: Sonic Hearing
Trait Points: 5 TP
Description: Enhanced hearing and super fine fibers and hairs within the ear as well as an increased inner equilibrium give the user incredibly advanced and distinct hearing. Able to discern clear sounds where the average person would hear a jumbled mess and hearing a pin drop at a distance in complete silence.
- Tactile Scent:
Name: Tactile Scent
Trait Points: 5 TP
Description: A much clearer nasal palate and fine tuned sense of smell lets the user operate on a near animal level of instinct here. They can smell things much more clearly than a human could and further distances as well, even able to make an effort to tracking the direction a certain scent is coming from. Though they might not be at a bloodhound level, they are clearly superior to the average person.
- Reflexes:
Name: Reflexes
Trait Points: 3 TP
Description: Hideki has an enhanced sensory input, so much so that his reflexes are far beyond that of a normal person's natural reflex speed. His ability to respond quickly to a stimulus and without conscious thought is so advanced that he is able to react in, at worst, half the time that a normal person can. However, even though he is able to react, it doesn't mean that he automatically is able to dodge things and suprise attacks/stealth are still just as effective against him if not more so.
Name: Illusion
Proof Of Roll: Link
Description: This quirk transfers a hallucinogen via whatever medium necessary through a projected sense to produce illusion(s) to manipulate the victim(s) senses in various ways. The projected senses 'pushes' the hallucinogen along the medium to the desired victim(s) though the hallucinogen doesn't have any mass or form and just travels along the implanted sense. This allows the user to create full blown illusions in a variety of ways but in no way has any affect on the real world (outside of what the user could do on their own with their base physical abilities). As the user's control rank increases, the quality of the illusions as well as the number of senses they can project/fool increases as well following below:
- D-rank: The user can manipulate up to 1 sense at a time with each technique. These techniques are usually pretty obvious.
- C-rank: The user can manipulate up to 2 senses at a time with techniques in an obvious manner while able to control a single sense at a high level.
- B-rank: The user can manipulate up to 3 senses at a time with techniques in an obvious manner while able to control two senses at a high level.
- A-rank: The user can manipulate up to 4 senses at a time with techniques in an obvious manner while able to control three senses at a high level.
- S-rank: The user can manipulate up to all 5 senses at a time with techniques in an obvious manner while able to control four senses at a high level.
- SS-rank: The user can manipulate all 5 senses at a time with techniques at a high level.
High level refers to being almost indistinguishable from the real world as far as a persons general senses and tend not to be noticed under most cicrumstances (techniques must be noted that they are high level). In addition, as a freeform, the user can create illusions of equal to two ranks below their control rank.
As an example, a D rank visual technique could do something obvious like placing a door where one didn't exist moments before or where it would be irrational to place. Whereas the same technique at C rank could place visual components that (as long as reasonable in an in-character sense) wouldn't be given a second thought without the most keen of perception.
To fully explain a sensory input in form, it's anything that can leave an impression in a unique way from the senses. To create the illusion, this form is obvious as the hallucinogen travels along the sound waves , via touch/taste it is direct contact, and for the sense of smell will travel across the scent itself. In the visual sense, it requires the user to make an action of particular uniqueness and travels across the reflected light rays to make it to the targets eyes. When they see that action or are exposed to any of the others, the hallucinogen takes affect.
Drawbacks: The quirks dependance upon impressing someone's senses means that any unique input beyond (that would again disrupt their senses in a similar manner) will undo whatever illusion they are under. The breaking input needs to be created from a technique (either directly or as a side effect) of equal rank or greater than the illusion intended to break. In addition any level of serious pain (basic strikes must be of at least equal rank to the technique and any level of technique damage) will be considered enough of an impression to break the same illusions as well. Further beyond this, any new illusion created will override existing illusions as the impressions overlap and end the previous ones before that.
To reach higher levels of techniques the impressions that create the sensory impression need to be of sufficient quality. As a general rule at all levels, the actions or impression must be unique and not an ordinary or notion/action that can be written off as a normal action under normal circumstances. As a guide for the general case for applicable impressions:
- D/C-rank: These techniques tend to be pretty ordinary and don't need overly complicated impressions. Can be done with simple but unique speech or relatively mundane motions (ie. raising your hand, etc...).
- B/A-rank: These techniques tend to be above the ordinary and require a special level of uniqueness. For weaker techniques or more obvious illusions the impressions need not be as extensive as before but more unique impressions are necessary to use the techniques to their full extent (ie. waving a sword in a circle dramatically around the user to activate as a visual impression).
- S/SS-rank: These techniques are the most dangerous and powerful of all creatable illusions and to implant them in full strength requires both unique and non-replicable actions of any type. Unique and non-replicable means actions that wouldn't be seen in almost any circumstance and would not be missed in any form as the impression for the illusion itself.
Limit Break: Should a user hit 0 on their limit pool, they become susceptible to their own illusions in the same way that their victims do (trapping both the user and their victims within the illusion). Beyond that, should a user use a technique, etc... that brings them truly under 0 on their limit pool, the illusions that they impress upon others become useless for the user. This means that whatever senses the user places on someone else becomes completely inhibited on the user resulting in a complete inability to use that particular sense. As an example, a visual illusion that drives the user below 0 ends up causing them to become blind until the end of the thread.
Hometown: Miyagi
History: Hideki's upbringing and childhood is as tragic and convoluted as some poor higher power could envision to drag a soul under. He started out being born as the second child to a seemingly simple father, mother, and older sister and though he obviously can't remember his very earliest years, the damage done stuck within him from a young age. Born with all black hair and a caring smile, the danger he was brought into unknowingly was without teeth for a long time. His parents were lacking in understanding and caring, sating their terrible desires and angers out on anyone near them. It peaked in an incident when Hideki was four years old, the sounds and vibrations and screams of anger and fear carry in his mind but dissipates from his current memory. By the end of it, his sister was gone and Hideki was taken into custody by the government's child services to be fostered away with a streak of white embedded into his hair permanently, unknown to him as a mark of stress he endured at that young age.
He spent his life bouncing around the island of Japan from there, foster homes to foster homes and finding temporary residence in extended family's homes around the country. He found his longest stays from the ages of 4-6, 7-9, and 10-13 in Miyagi, the prefecture he most calls his home but traveled and moved across the island entirely. With all of the traveling, he never had much time to make true friends outside a few familiar faces here and there, but also found himself outcast and ignored by most others.
A particular incident after he moved back to Miyagi sticks in his mind most memorably, the spot where he would say the harrassment and bullying peaked and he discovered the ability of his own quirk while fearing for his own safety, he found himself wishing he was gone from that place and that they couldn't touch him. The other children freaked out, no longer able to see or hear him as he vanished, or rather removed himself, from their senses. They ran off in worry and fear of what happened and a sobbing Hideki was left to gather himself and to piece together what happened.
His childhood was plagued by incidents like this before and after as he was bullied constantly, and later figured out ways to manipulate his way out of it. The constantly bruises and cuts to himself left those around him worried and his almost impulsive need to bottle everything up and bury it, not wavering in leaving them as incidents that caused him no pain or trouble made a trademark for his inability to find a permanent home within the foster care system. Still, he carried on and did his best, finding himself able to bottle up these problems for long stretches and finding that everytime he moved ended up as a clean slate that he would be able to ignore and forget his angers and previous problems. Though, with the problems he faced, the loneliness and all else, his grades were average at best for a long portion of his life and while he was an incredibly smart student, work would be shirked for him to tend to his wounds and his emotional wounds, work not done and all else. He'd bide himself early to finding a better path in life and overcoming this hurdle and becoming a beacon for others by becoming a hero and aiming to enroll into one of the major hero courses in the country as a result.
